How to use Android WebControl ?
After downloading the application, start Android WebControl and the application show a moving the Droid logo, meaning the application is ready. Once started Android WebControl will display a web address to use on your computer to connect to your phone. Type this address into your favorite web browser (Firefox or Chrome are recommended). You can now control your phone and send SMS to your friends.
How do I connect my computer to Android WebControl?
You need a Wifi (or bluetooth/USB tethering) connection to connect to your phone. If you don’t have a common Wifi network available, you can enable Tethering on your phone and then use this connection to use Android WebControl.
Android WebControl is so easy you just need a web browser to use it. No extra software is needed and most Web browsers are supported.
Which Android devices will it work with?
Android WebControl will work on all phones that are running Android version 2.1 (cupcake) or higher.
How can I configure the application?
When your launch Android Webcontrol, just push the Menu button to access more configuration options.
Can I use a password to protect access?
Yes, go to the preferences (Menu->Configuration) and enable the authentication.
Can I encrypt the communiations ?
Yes if you want to improve your privacy and protect all communications between your web browser and Android WebControl, just go to the preferences (Menu->Configuration) and turn on HTTPS. Your browser will display a warning regarding the certificate, and you can safely accept the exception. This will encrypt all communications.
Can I automate the sending of SMS messages ?
Yes ! If you need to automate the sending of SMS messages, or script it the way you want, Android WebControl provides a little API to send SMS messages. Please read this article.
Can I use a USB connection with Android WebControl?
Yes if you phone supports USB tethering, simply connect the USB cable and go to Settings -> Wireless settings -> Tethering -> Tethering USB. Android WebControl will display the web address to type in your web browser.
If USB connections are not currently supported by your phone, you can use the ADB program using the command
adb forward tcp:8080 tcp:8080
You’ll have to enable USB-Debugging on your phone to be able to use ADB, And then connect your web browser to http://localhost:8080 to use Android WebControl.
Can I use a bluetooth connection with Android WebControl?
Yes if you phone supports bluetooth tethering, you can go to Settings -> Wireless settings -> Tethering -> Bluetooth Tethering. Connect your computer to the newly created blueooth PAN network. Android WebControl will display the web address to type in your web browser.
Will Android Webcontrol work with an IPhone?
Nope, sorry. This application is designed to use all the advantages of your Android phone, and there are no plans to support IPhones or IOS based tablets.
